Alternative Weekends

Alternative weekends are an opportunity for a group of UM-Dearborn students to travel to another location and volunteer there.  Alternative weekends tend to be exchanges with other universities so that students from one university can educate and exchange ideas with students from another university.  In 2013-2014, we will be planning multiple trips!

Alternative Spring Breaks (ASB)

Over the 2012 spring break, groups of University of Michigan-Dearborn students served in West Virginia, Chicago, and Toronto!  Between November and February, students helped plan their trips while fund-raising, developing team solidarity, and learning about the community they served.

Breaks are spent not only serving and learning in a community, but also enjoying team activities and exploring the area.  After ASB, students relished in lasting friendships and apply new skills and interests in all areas of life.

We are looking for students to fill leadership roles for this year's upcoming 2014 Alternative Spring Break trips!  If you are interested in leading one of these trips, stay tuned!  More information will be available by the start of the Fall Semester!

Have an idea for a trip?  We want to hear it!  Send us an email and let us know!

Stay tuned for upcoming information about Alternative Breaks happening in 2013-2014!
